"Parvati and Ganesh" is a famous painting by the Indian master Jamini Roy. This painting shows the baby Ganesha, the Elephant-headed God, seated on His Mother, Durga's lap. Lord Ganesha, Parvati's first son, is His Mother's favorite child. She lovingly seats Him on Her lap and keeps a protective arm around Him. Jamini Roy is an Indian painter, honored with the State award of Padma Bhushan. Jamini Rai captured the qualities that are a part of the native folk painting and recombined them with those of his own. He fused the minimal brush strokes of the Kalighat style with elements of tribal art from Bengal.
