Already recognized as a talented illustrator in the world of advertisement, Andy Warhol begins painting in the 1960s fuelled by the Pop movement born in England he emphasizes with his comic-like works and his Campbell Soup cans. He also promptly inaugurates his work as a photographer who depicts the rich and famous of the 1960s and 1970s. In 1964, he found his Factory in New York where numerous underground figures experiment artistic projects from films to music with the Velvet Underground and art.

Andy Warhol (1928-1987) was a key figure in Pop Art, an art movement that emerged in America and elsewhere in the 1950s to become prominent over the next two decades. From haunting black and white self-portraits to Polaroid snapshots of celebrities, many of the photos in the collection later became the inspiration for Warhol's most well-known Pop Art pieces.
