Nihonbashi: Clearing After Snow (Nihonbashi yukibare) is the opening masterpiece print from Utagawa Hiroshige’s (1797–1858) monumental late-life series, One Hundred Famous Views of Edo (Meisho Edo Hyakkei), published in 1856.Nihonbashi (Japan Bridge) was the economic heart of Edo (modern Tokyo) and the official starting point (Kilometer Zero) for the five major highways of Japan, making it the most symbolic location to open his grand series.
