"Fall of Man" by the great Renaissance master Michaelangelo, is a section from the frescoes on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, depicts in one scene, the biblical story of Adam and Eve's temptation and in the second scene, their punishment. Centered in the composition is a fig tree, representing the tree of knowledge. This particular scene is the sixth scene of nine panels that show scenes from Genesis in chronllogical order of the narrative. When God placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden they were free to do whatever they wished except eat the fruit of this tree. Satan came to them disguised as a snake and tempted them into eating the fruit. As a punishment, Adam and Eve were no longer welcome to stay in the Garden of Eden and were cast out by an angel.
