About Guitar and Pipe
"Guitar and Pipe" is a famous painting by one of the leaders of the Cubist movement in the early 20th century, Juan Gris, which shows reference to how the artists had begun to breakdown the basic rules of perspective to create images showing multiple view points and reducing objects to their geometric parts. Most Cubists painted using a monochromatic palette, but Gris went in a slightly different direction, preferring bold, varied colors. Gris developed a singular style within the Cubist movement, harmonizing colors rather than using monotones and creating pure, distinct forms, working often in collage. His style of Cubism became known as synthetic cubism. His use of color is evident in "Guitar and Pipe".
