About Joan Miro Hort Amb Ase (The Vegetable Garden With Donkey)
"Hort Amb Ase (The Vegetable Garden With Donkey)" is a well-known painting by Joan Miro. In the summers of 1918 and 1919 Miró painted a series of six landscapes there in which he moved away from his initial eclecticism and formulated his first individual pictorial style. In these works, which convey the profound revelation that he experienced before the landscape, all the elements are painted in minute detail. As a result they are imbued with a sort of narrative (with the various elements arranged one behind the other to create an imaginative or remembered universe) and one that links Miró to the earliest 16th-century “animated” or narrative landscapes of Patinir and Bosch.
