About Le Moulin a Cafe (Coffee Grinder)
"Le Moulin a Cafe (Coffee Grinder)", a famous painting by one of the leaders of the Cubist movement in the early 20th century, Juan Gris, in which different forms have been fragmented into several different planes and then reorganized on the surface of the painting. Most Cubists painted using a monochromatic palette, but Gris went in a slightly different direction, preferring bold, varied colors. Gris developed a singular style within the Cubist movement, harmonizing colors rather than using monotones and creating pure, distinct forms, working often in collage. His style of Cubism became known as synthetic cubism. His use of color is evident in "Le Moulin a Cafe (Coffee Grinder)".
