Paul Klee, a Swiss-born painter, printmaker and draughtsman of German nationality, was originally associated with the German Expressionist group Der Blaue Reiter, and subsequently taught at the Bauhaus along with his friend and a fellow painter Wassily Kandinsky, the widely influential German art school of the interwar period. His paintings, which are at times fantastic, childlike, or otherwise witty, served as an inspiration to the New York School, as well as many other artists of the 20th century. View Artist Collection

About Rose Garden
Rose Garden is one of the many Cubism styled paintings on Paul Klee where he broke down the scene into well-defined lines & coloured it with various patches of a single colour. He outlined blocks of different objects in the picture (such as a church, tower, fish, etc.) before adding various tones of a single colour to create depth & a multi-dimensional picture. The effect is that you see something new each time you look at the picture from a different perspective. It looks like a patch-work quilt, but with multi dimensions.
