"Study for Going to the Start" by Alfred Munnings is his very famous Painting. Munnings is hailed as one of the most successful painters of horses in history, and traveled around England in the early 1900s taking commissions to render portraits of prized horses and sometimes society figures. Unlike the older style of sporting painting (also represented in the European Art Sale catalogue by artist John Frederick Herring Sr.), which depicted horses with long, rectangular bodies, tiny heads, and oddly-flexed limbs, Munnings' work shows Thoroughbreds more as they really appear to the human eye.
