Kazimir Severinovich Malevich was a Russian avant-garde artist and art theorist, whose pioneering work and writing had a profound influence on the development of non-objective, or abstract art, in the 20th century. His concept of Suprematism sought to develop a form of expression that moved as far as possible from the world of natural forms (objectivity) and subject matter in order to access "the supremacy of pure feeling" and spirituality.

About Kazimir Malevich Suprematist Painting, 1916
"Suprematist Painting, 1916" by Kazimir Malevich is a well known abstract painting. While the geometric forms of the composition are freed from reference to the visible world, Malevich has used the convention of ‘overlapping’ planes set against a white ground to suggest a shallow and dynamic pictorial depth. The thrust of the rectangular forms is broadly on a diagonal. This determines the coloured bars in the upper part of the painting, the dominant central blue rectangle, and the orange and red bars that fall out of the base of the frame. A counter-rhythm is established with the horizontal red-brown block and the associated small yellow bars. About the Posters
