Dante Gabriel Rossetti was a British poet, illustrator, painter, translator and founded the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood in 1848 with William Holman Hunt and John Everett Millais. His work influenced the European Symbolists and was a major precursor of the Aesthetic movement. Rosetti's art was characterised by its sensuality and its medieval revivalism.
Rossetti's personal life was closely linked to his work, especially his relationships with his models and muses Elizabeth Siddal (who was also his wife), Fanny Cornforth and Jane Morris.

"The Beloved", also known as "The Bride" by English artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti, that illustrates the power of woman's beauty, is inspired by the biblical Song of Solomon. The bride, caught in the action of moving back her veil, is attended by four virginal bridesmaids and an African page boy. All contrast strikingly with the red hair and pale skin of the bride: not just the African skin and features, but also the varying shades of brunette hair and dark caucasian skin tones of all four bridesmaids. The model for the bride was Marie Ford, whose beauty Rosseti greatly admired.About the Framed Prints
