Séraphine Louis de Senlis (1864-1942), worked as a housekeeper in a convent which had an extremely religious impact on her, and she claimed that it was the Virgin Mary herself who inspired her own artistic vocation. Séraphine expresses her own intimate universe, which she believes to be divinely guided.
