Roy Lichtenstein was an American pop artist best known for his boldly-colored parodies of comic strips and advertisements. In the 1960s, Lichtenstein became a leading figure of the new Pop Art movement. About The Oval Office
"The Oval Office", a color screenprint representation of the official office of the President of the United States, located in the West Wing of the White House, drawn by Roy Lichtenstein from in-person observation of the Office when crafting the work, transforming traditional fixtures and incorporating a meticulous level of detail. When making this piece Lichtenstein researched the interior of the Oval Office in the White House, Washington D.C., incorporating some authentic decorative details, including paintings that had once hung there. Commissioned as part of the Artists for Freedom of Expression project to benefit the Democratic National Committee during the 1992 Clinton/Gore campaign, the print was later chosen as one of six commemorative inaugural posters by the Presidential Inaugural Committee.
