The Virgin and Child - Framed Prints
Leonardo da Vinci (1452 – 1519) was an Italian man who lived in the time of the Renaissance. He was good at lots of things, but was most famous as a painter. He also was a scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, sculptor, architect, botanist, musician, and a writer.
Leonardo was curious about everything in nature. He wanted to know how everything worked. He was very good at studying, designing and making all sorts of interesting things. He was trained to be an artist by the sculptor and painter Verrocchio.
Many historians and scholars regard Leonardo as the prime exemplar of the "Universal Genius" or "Renaissance Man", an individual of "unquenchable curiosity" and "feverishly inventive imagination".
