Zhou Sicong is a Chinese painter whose singular work in the representation of women made her an icon in Chinese modern art during the mid-20th century. Zhou’s work ranged from figurative painting to more abstract works, and she also innovated several techniques of painting with ink over the course of her lifetime. Furthermore, she was vice-chairperson of the Chinese Artists Association later in her career, and at the time of her death in 1996, was renowned worldwide not only as the first openly feminist Chinese painter, but also as a modern artist of considerable worth.About the Art Prints
