About Vincent Van Gogh Mountains At Saint Remy
In July 1889, Vincent van Gogh decided to render in paint the Alpilles mountain range. At the time, he was staying at the hospital of Saint-Paul-de-Mausole in the southern French town of Saint-Rémy, recuperating from a series of mental-health episodes. Mountains at Saint-Rémy would become one of several important works Van Gogh created during his yearlong residence at the hospital (ending in May 1890).
