About La Machine de Marly
This painting shows the pumping building of the Machine de Marly , seen from downstream, left bank of the Seine . The building Machine de Marly was destroyed in 1968. Going down to the banks of the Seine by the paved sidewalk, just before a small path under an avenue of ash trees and chestnut trees, is the view of Sisley for this painting that represents the shed bricks covering the Machine de Marly. Sisley represented the reflection of the building in the lapping of the Seine.
